2024 Honda Civic SI Engine, Models, Specs

2024 Honda Civic SI Engine, Models, SpecsThe 2024 Honda Civic Si is perhaps the brand’s best little vehicle, with a near-perfect balance of performance and daily driving characteristics. Given that it’s built on a new generation of the standard Honda Civic, the Si gets the same enhancements to its inside space and equipment set as its more mainstream sibling. Sports compacts such as the Subaru WRX and VW Golf GTI have recently been reworked can compete with the Civic Si thanks to a precisely adjusted chassis and a powerful turbo-four engine. In addition, the Civic’s low price makes it a good bargain.

Honda hasn’t lived resting on its laurels with the 2017 Civic Si regarding manual transmissions. The 1.5-liter engine is back in the Si for 2024. In contrast to the original model, the eleventh-generation Civic Si is turbocharged and produces 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. However, compared to the Volkswagen Jetta GLI and the previous generation of the Civic Si, it has less power and is lighter and more dynamically capable.

2024 Honda Civic SI Redesign

Compared to the previous generation, the 2024 Honda Civic SI looks more mature and restrained. Two inches of space have been added to both the front and rear of the windscreen pillars to lengthen the bonnet from top to bottom. Even though the side mirrors have been relocated to the doors, the lower beltline and this combination increase visibility. Finishing off the side appearance is a crisp shoulder line that extends from the front fender back to the rear taillamps. When viewed from the back, the 2024 Civic SI features a wider track (by 0.5 inches) and an upswept trunk lid. The former is used to increase the vehicle’s stability, while the latter is used for better aerodynamics.

Lastly, the external lights are entirely LED and provide excellent nighttime illumination. To match the new appearance of the LED headlights, which have a broader and more slender profile, the positioning of the daytime running lights (DRLs) has also been adjusted. On the other hand, the LED foglights are only available on the higher-end Touring model. This year’s model is 55.7 inches tall, 70.9 inches wide, and has a wheelbase that spans the car’s entire width.

Interior

One of the critical ways Honda distinguishes the Si’s interior from the standard-issue Civic is through a particular pair of sports seats with more bolstering, distinctive Si badges in the headrests, and red contrast stitching. Sporty red stitching can be seen on the door trims, the steering wheel, and other automobile parts to show off the vehicle.

The dashboard’s decorative mesh, which hides the HVAC vents, also gets a crimson finish. The traditional speedometer and digital tachometer on the Si’s left side are visible to the driver. It’s a pity that the new Si doesn’t have heated seats like its predecessor. The rear seat and trunk space are identical to the less sporty Civic sedans, so it’s a no-brainer for families with six people traveling with carry-on luggage.

Engine

The engine of the Civic Si has been modified for the latest generation by Honda. The turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine remains, but it now produces 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque between 1,800 – 5,000 rpm, a 300-rpm improvement over the previous model. However, the maximum output has decreased by five horsepower compared to the previous generation. A turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder that produces 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque is included in the Civic Si’s engine.

A limited-slip differential and a six-speed manual transmission are standard, while an automatic option is unavailable. When pushed, we found some engine roughness, but the turbo lag was minimal, and the shifter’s short throws and light action impressed us. The manual gearbox now offers a rev-match option that can quickly turn on or off for drivers who haven’t mastered the heel-and-toe method. The Civic Si clocked it at 6.8 seconds from 0-60 mph on our test track, which was 0.5 seconds quicker than the manual-transmission Civic hatchback.

2024 Honda Civic SI Release Date ang Price

The starting price of the 2024 Civic Si is a little over $28,000, which is roughly $2,400 more expensive than its predecessor. The number of available options is limited because just one fully equipped model is available. However, we’d spend an additional $200 to get the high-performance summer tires.
